I will be the first to admit that I am not the best writer out there, there are no Hugo Awards or New York Best Sellers in my future...yet. However, an amateur like me can even agree that a half-finished sentence is a faux-pas, heck probably even a writing abomination. There is nothing more annoying, more infuriating than being engrossed in a story watching the words fall gracefully down the page before getting catapulted and slammed into the wall by the demonic half-finished sentence.
I know I know, that was very extra; but I hope it showed my total disdain for incomplete sentences. The worst part is that it usually doesn’t take much to conclude a sentence, just a few more words and voila- a masterpiece. Now that I have disclosed my weird pet peeve I have a question: Why do we leave so many half-finished sentences in our lives? Writing that new book, starting that new project, trying that new hobby; we are so excited about the beginning and we are steamrolling with ideas...but then something happens. We get tired, it gets hard, we are juggling too many things on our plate that are not as important compared to the big thing. We slow down, we stop, we give up. It’s the natural thing to do, the average person quits when adversity comes.
However, my beautiful ambitious queens, you do NOT quit. You strive, you fall, you get up and strive again. We don’t leave unfinished business on the table because we know with our prowess and intellect we can make any idea or project come to fruition. So my lovely ladies, don’t be a half-finished sentence: be a completer.
