I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with family, friends or coworkers and that you didn’t overindulge too much on food. Even though the origins and the celebration of Thanksgiving are controversial, we can take the principles of Thanksgiving and apply it to our lives. Here are some suggestions on how to apply the “attitude” of Thanksgiving into your life.
It’s not always about you. Giving is right in the title, so it must be a crucial part! Start with something simple by helping a friend or family member, or volunteering in your community. A lot of people volunteer in different places around the holiday season but these same places still need volunteers out of season as well!
Keep an attitude of gratitude. There is a lot that we could complain about, and half of them could be very valid reasons. However I am a personal believer in that when you focus on the good in your life it can help minimize the bad. Start everyday with writing down at least 3 things you are grateful for. After a week, it will be hard to just keep it to three!
Give love to everyone, including yourself. You never know what another person is going through so it’s important to show kindness everywhere you go. You have no idea what a smile, a joke or a kind gesture can do for a person. Also, remember to have the same attitude toward yourself as well.
These are simple suggestions but if done can really help your perspective on life and yourself for the better. Have a wonderful week Queens!
