Ahhhh the wonderful world of social media. Don’t get me wrong, I love social media and how it keeps me connected and informed, but it can be a bit overwhelming at times. I knew I needed a detox when I began to feel overwhelmed by everything I was viewing on social media, so I deactivated all my social media platforms and decided to give my mind the detox it needed. Now, what the hell did I do for a week without social media? Keep reading to find out.
Well first I focused more on myself. Sometimes with social media it is easy to be so tuned in with what’s going on in the world, you forget to focus on your own life. My time away from social media allowed me to focus more on my own personal goals and desires rather than fixate on what’s going on in the world.
My creativity boosted. For the past three months or so I've been struggling with creating content for BAQ and I could not figure out why but when I stepped back from social media ideas began to flow and most importantly, they were my ideas.
I explore new activities and habits. I always wanted to take up different activities and this time away from social media allowed me to do that. I went swimming more, I began to go for a jog every morning, I even began to stick to my 4AM wake up time and it felt AMAZING! I always wanted to get more active but never had the motivation to do so but with more time I was able too.
Overall, my week off from social media gave me the time I needed to clear my mind and focus on my own shit. I enjoyed this time away so much that I decided that once a month I am going to take time away from social media just to be accountable of my own time.
