"Be gentle with yourself, learn to love yourself, to forgive yourself, for only as we have the right attitude toward ourselves can we have the right attitude toward others." -Wilfred Peterson
Happy Monday my loves! I hope your weekend was wonderful and helped get you ready for the week ahead. As you all may be aware of by now, I love to promote self-love here on BAQ. In the last few months I have been incorporating a self-love ritual into my selfcare routine and it has not only boosted my self confidence but also has given me over all happiness as well. It is important to remember that in order to truly give love to the world we have to captivate that love inside of us first. Today I am going to share some tips for creating a solid self-love routine and how to incorporate it into your current self-care routine. (if you have one, if not click here)
The first step to creating a self-love ritual is to basically identify your own needs regarding love. Sit down and ask yourself “what do I want to get from my self-love ritual”? Now, this may change from day to day, so it is also important to ask yourself this question daily. For me, sometimes I need slow and attentive love, while other times I just need a quick boost of self-confidence. Don't be afraid to switch it up.
Here are some tips I recommend when creating your own self-love ritual:
Create a playlist: I created a playlist titled Love Songs for Me on Spotify. This playlist has all the songs that make me feel loved and happy. I like to listen to some of the songs and hug myself while singing along. I know it may sound cheesy but it really gives me the love I need while helping me reflect on how to love others as well.
Dancing: Even though I am not the best dancer, I LOVE TO DANCE, and you know what, you probably do too. Dancing is something that we are all capable of no matter if we are good at it or not. Whenever I am feeling a lack of love and confidence, I just turn on some great tunes and let my body move. (Extra tip: this also helps to boost overall mood and self-image)
Meditation: A lot of people use meditation for a variety of reasons and so do I but in the last few months I have been using it in my self-love ritual it has taken my self-love ritual to the next level.
These are just a few quick recommendations. Like your self-care routine, your self-love ritual has to be created for you. I created my self-love ritual by trying out different things to see what works best for me and that is what you need to do.
